<One of the great myths of Wall Street is that the "market is efficient" meaning that all possible information is already priced in the stock. Then, pray tell, why does DELL ever move at all.>

It moves because that information changes, ie, sales, earnings, production problems, etc. If the information never changed then on what would YOU base your decision to buy or sell an equity or any investment?

I do agree that small investors can move more quickly on information when that information is published, but don't believe for a minute that the largest investors don't get that information delivered to them personally quite a bit before you or I receive it. That is a problem currently under investigation by the SEC.

I really liked your message alot and couldnt agree more.. I typically dont purchase more than 300 shares at a time since my little experience has proven that the less you are buying/selling, the better and easier to get the fills. When I buy 1000 or more I typically get multiple fills, and unless the stock is still running when I sell I usually have to settle for selling at market unless its a very liquid stock like dell, msft- in which case if I am selling 1-2000 I never have a problem obviously..

someone once told me the phrase 'slow and easy', buy a few hundred shares, yes the gains are smaller but it makes controlling the losses much easier.. and in this market if a stock starts to run it can easily give you 2-4 points in a day- do that 2-3 times a week on 300 shares and your making a nice living. Gives me much more control.

Tim, have you completely disregarded Ciena now? Would appreciate your take on this as a small position going into the new year. Anything new on PETM?

other good positions include: CPQ, TLAB, T, and ARTT (thanks TATRADER for this one)
