>>Let me analyze your logic here, if I may. Because many things can kill a fetus, that means it is okay to destroy it intentionally with RU-486.

I hesitate to get into this, especially in defense of one of the shriller liberals on these threads, but I don't see how you can infer this "logic" at all. Michelle's original statement was:

>>There are tons of things that cause pregnancies NOT to come to term, such as smoking, alcohol etc and if these sanctimonious religious groups were truly concerned about this 10-hr old fertilized egg they would be picketing the tobacco companies

The clear intent of this statement is to say "There are many preventable things that kill fetuses, so if the life of the fetus is so important to some people, then these people should be fighting those things." It's unclear whether she means "in addition to..." [abortion, RU-486, etc.], or "instead of..." [abortion, RU-486, etc.]. Either way, there is absolutely nothing in her statement to support your (obviously biased) interpretation.

Besides, if you really want to pick a fight about abortion, you should probably go to (or create) a thread about the subject.

Kindly,

Bob Lao-Tse

Ill even go you one better. There is a period of time, and I dont know what it is Ill look it up, where a fertilized egg is not even a "fetus". It is only that, a fertilized egg. That is the period of time that RU-486 addresses, immediately after fertilization, thats why it is called the morning after pill.

Since I dont believe a 2 mos old fetus is a baby, I surely dont believe a 2-hr old fertilized egg is a baby. I see no reason for anyone to be opposed to RU-486 availability and imo it is yet another control issue on the part of the religious right. As I say, if Falwell and Limbaughs wifeypoos want to avoid RU-486, fine by me. But I want that option available for my family.
