I will try to make this as succint as possible without altering the basic premise.

I could not personally raise my child that way, because of my personal shortcomings. That personal deficiency, does not make it right. It might even be semi-succesful, but it is far less than optimum, and possibly harmful.

Again as far as punishing and still loving, I did say yes. However, that short answer is not truly representative of the meaning of my statement. I said yes, but that it is less than optimum, potentially harmful, and not wholly adequate when compared to the best methods.

If i was able to raise a child with nothing but unconditional love, that would be far superior to anything else.
