I said it before, but people here say I am on a vendetta. the major point is: It does NOT use advanced features of a SQL language, which most others use called STORED PROCEDURES. These are pre-programmed, pre-compiled, and in most cases, IN memory bits of code that are very efficient in getting back results sets, especially OVER distributed networks. we implemented this peice of crap, over a 80 embassy, worlwide LAN and it never worked properly. Users refuse to use it, the developpers/maintainers are fighting fires all the time, and the server(s) FARM is stressed beyond belief supporting just Head Office in Ottawa. The whole Canadian Federal Government standardized on it, and not one department has it running efficiently(or even PRODUCTIVELY) yet. Massive expenses (Millions) massive Development (More Millions) Disappointing performance & results. Irate user base. Frustrated developpers. And ME, as the SYSTEM Admin of this mess, and one of teh original project leads, very disappointed too, as a system owner, and taxpayer. That's why. On top of this, I think that SAP and ORCL will start eating their lunch now, as they are bigger, better-financed and especially MEANER than they (PSFT) are. Nice guys finish last.ORCL is weak in this area, but coming up fast. The small players will either be gobbled up, or starved. That's why. BTW, please refrain from telling me I was turned down by them fo a job, so I am bitter blah blah blah.... I would not work for them, unless they offered me a hhell pf a lot. I have to BELIEVE in a product, and in their case, I don't. Oracle, SAP, Cisco, MicroSOFT, SUNW, Lucent, my bags are packed in a minute <smile> Happy new Year anyone Jean
