Luanne,

I've been trading since last March, but only since November with a real broker (JPR). I have never traded NYSE stocks so I can't say for sure how executions differ from broker to broker. Certainly you should expect the fastest possible fills using MBT. It really is with NASDAQ that RT shines. I never would have believed how fast executions could occur if I had not made the switch.

Good luck and feel free to keep those questions coming.

Luanne,

If you intend to continue with only about 20 trades a month, I'd recommend Steve Goldman at Yamner and Company. You use the phone and commissions aren't as low, but his executions are the best you can get from a broker and you'll save more on his getting you 1/16-1/8 better price than on the low commissions. Why pay for all the expensive data feeds, news feeds and the learning curve for new software when you can stay with your current info, but get great service? He has recently implemented a video-cam based "trading room" where you and others can be in touch throughout the trading day!

Learning the subtleties of LevelII, T&S, the MM behavior, trader behavior takes months. Add to that the difficulty of learning the behavior of the various ECNs and when and how to use each. All of this is fine if you are doing frequent trading (100+ trades/month), but is somewhat overkill for 20 trades/month.
