I've said from day 1, Bob, that the response to Clinton's lack of ethics, morality, integrity says more about us as a society than about him.

As his defenders are oft to say, in effect, "We knew he was a scumbag from the beginning but we voted for him anyway".

When the sleaze gets so deep that even the Alec Baldwin's of our degenerate society will call for the stoning of Larry Flynt, then we know there's a prospect of decency in our country's future. It ain't going to happen in our or my lifetime I'm afraid.

bob,

"The vow between my wife and I is a powerful thing."

Is it the vow or some other, more intangible sense of a lifelong bond that you feel...?

A "marriage" is essentially a contract. In our legal system, breaking a contract is usually accompanied by some sort of compensation...or consideration...in that respect a vow of monogamy is powerful if it can be proven to have been breached.

I think that all contracts are somewhat negotiable and that to me includes a "marriage" contract...these things must remain private...if the state sanctioned institutions and laws are intrusive, we skirt the "rule of law" at our own peril. The "rule of law" is an ever evolving set of principles...look how much has changed in 400 years!

However, I believe that the Founding Fathers would be disgraced by this invasion of privacy...with the methods used to (as I see it) entrap a duely elected President...but even that point is a bone of contention among Americans.

It boils down to the fact that there are 2 opposing forces in a tug-o-war for the 2000 white house...and whoever wins will be steering the direction of our society in one extreme direction or the other.

The Millennium demands a choice...the global electronic monetary system, the middle east situation, oil...Iraq. Is "Big Oil" in bed with saddam's military state?

It's easy to understand the extreme hatred for the President, by men who feel that they must "play by the rules" and they see Clinton as "cheating" and getting away with it...because Women aren't outraged.
Women don't expect their men to be based in the value-system of the WWII Generation...we gotta be realistic.

Hillary is threatening to the old paradigm in Her own right...
and it's the old paradigm that's on the autopsy slab right now.

You must be of the Great Generation, based on your fidelity...that's nice. {see Tom Brokaw's new book}.

You need not be so ashamed of Bill Clinton...time may bear out the fact that He is fighting for everyone's privacy.

aka,
Lorrie
