I have been a member for a month now, and something has been bothering me. First, maybe it is my boring personality, but I am getting bored with alot of the chatter. Similar to my dismay with the Yahoo boards. However, this is at least with intelligent people (you're welcome). I know I could stop, but occasionally I find some good info. Here is my real problem however.

There are probably no more than 1,000 active (really active) posters. We all pay ten dollars a month for this honor. That is $10,000 per month in total, or $120,000 for the year. Interestingly enough, we are providing the CONTENT for SI to sell adds for. I would guess that the adds that all of the voyeurs see amount to millions of dollars. Are we being taken like Tom Sawyer took his friends white washing the fence? Maybe my numbers are wrong. But if they are right, we could all go on strike, form our own board, and make a living (co-op style) out of what we enjoy anyway. What do you think?

SI probably won't put this one on their homepage. BTW, SI, I think these boards are the best thing going, so don't get mad at me.:)

Further thoughts on the strike.

We could all be responsible for a minimum number of posts per week. Anything over the minimum could accrue to year end bonuses. We would need a committee to monitor the quality of the content, punish and dismiss wrongdoers, and review applications for new participants. We could get a handful of the techie posters to write the software necessary to start the site. Seed capital will not be a problem. IPO. Everyone is rich. As you can see, I am excited about this idea.

I would probably shut up if SI would give me a lifetime honorary membership.

One more thought.

From this point forward, we should communicate regarding this via e-mails, not on this board. If you are not contacted within the next 3 weeks, then your content was not deemed good enough. Sorry. You can stay on these boards with the leftovers. Just kidding. Boy the net is great. E-mail me if your are in. Once I get 500, it will be a go. If the techies who could program such a site would identify themselves, that would be appreciated.

You see the glass half empty when I see a glass half full <sigh>

Buying opportunity unless Clinton trial indicts. If so, long term hold is required.
