nihil thanks for the background info I really enjoyed the piece. I could go on about dcf investments based on the cost of a barrel of oil etc., but that was another time. Always enjoy your posts. John

Nihil, Most of the cellulose mass is also polysaccharides and once broken down be heat/acid/enzymes becomes a metabolite for yeast. Currently work goes on to digest assorted biomass(sugar cane waste, barks, straws, leaves etc) to a saccaride base that can used as a feedstock to make ethanol and other things like acetone etc. One fine day alcohol may well get cheaper that gasoline as these efforts mature.
