Honda S2000 When I arrived at the Honda S2000 exhibit, I asked that the hood be raised. The initial response was that they are not authorized to raise the hood. I insisted, like the typical loud New Yorker that I was (caused by all those years in the subways), that this is an auto show and paid to see cars and their engines. Moments later someone from Honda's marketing org. did raise the hood. I took my pictures ASAP. Later in the day, the crowds got larger around the car, but the hood was closed while the commentator talked about its attributes. I may have had a unique opportunity to view and photograph the engine in great detail. Unfortunately for me, its like looking at a PC motherboard and only recognizing the processor. I'll try to post more photos and maybe a streaming video of the exhibit. Please, don't hold your breath on the streaming video. This is new and exciting technology to be able to share information with people around the world. At other exhibits, they had model engines that were cut away to see the valve and cylinder assemblies. When you look at the cylinder head and notice how crowded it is with the valves and spark plugs, you get an appreciation the job the auto companies are faced with to incorporate DI, especially trying to locate the injectors centrally over the cylinders. It makes every sense for Mercedes to have tried to side inject OCP. I wouldn't be surprised that other companies are trying to do the same. Redesigning the head configuration can be time consuming and a real challenge. The engines may be 4 stroke, but there configurations are all different.
