David, Anyone:

Does anyone think it would be a good idea to show two lines of each post (up from one) in the lists of posts for each thread?

Would save me from looking at posts that seem like they might be interesting from the one line view, but quickly reveal themselves otherwise when I go to the post.

Peter

David, I used tracert and ping to check out
a free ISP here in Seattle that I am test
driving. Everything beyond their servers
will not show up...how can this be?

For example...
Tracing route to grads.iges.org [192.239.84.50]
over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 280 ms 288 ms 277 ms TNT2.FreeI.Net [209.162.144.6]
2 278 ms 228 ms 268 ms FreeI-GW.Freei.Net [209.162.144.1]
3 * * * Request timed out.
4 * * * Request timed out.
5 * * * Request timed out.
6 * * * Request timed out.
7 * * * Request timed out.
8 * * * Request timed out.
9 * * * Request timed out.
10 * * * Request timed out.

etc...I gave up after 18 hops

whereas

Tracing route to mail.wa.freei.net [209.162.144.3]

over a maximum of 30 hops:
1 283 ms 267 ms 274 ms TNT2.FreeI.Net [209.162.144.6]
2 282 ms 288 ms 283 ms mail.wa.freei.net [209.162.144.3]
Trace complete.

or when I try tracert www.techstocks.com

Pinging v13.go2net.com [206.253.217.13] with 32 bytes of data:

Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Request timed out.
Ping statistics for 206.253.217.13:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms

Can you explain this?

{For those interested in this tracrt and ping
exercise, you can capture the output by piping
the stuff to a text file,
tracert www.techstocks.com>text.txt}

Thanks,
