You're post is a good example of how near to impossible it is for you and I to communicate effectively...we are in two separate dimensions...I beleive that your religion has devoured your ability to see reality...the moslim brainwashing was successful, in your case.
Regretably, you and I shouldn't even try...

First of all brees, you quoted a rhetorical question that I posed to bob...each individual has a "unique-to-their-own-life" answer to that question...which I happen to believe is a private answer!

I'm clear that you feel that a "marriage vow" is not to be breached.
Perhaps that's a reflection of the culture within which you live...my uneducated supposition is that islam is reflective of (mainly) arabic cultures...
Here in America, "marriage vows" are broken everyday...along with several commandments per hour. We don't do the "eye-for-an-eye" thing...for better or worse, who knows...I like "live-and-let-die", myself.

In regard to "vows", you yourself, conceded that "maybe it's one thing to some people and something else to others."

Can you apply that to reality?...I see you standards as unrealistic in the context of American culture...{see Existensialism}

The reality that "vows" are not absolute seems to threaten what I believe is your foundation, your religion...it's my perception, based on how quick you are to blend the church, the state and a "community of witnesses"...it's a crowded room for something so exclusive and private as an intimate comittment. I think "ceremony" and "ritual" are contributing to the de-evolution of humanity...but cloning is about to change everything!

If you really want to worry about the transgressions of man...you could focus some attention here...Big Science, Hallelujah...

At least you won't be suprised by the unexpected.

"Private?? In what sense is a marriage in which all significant members of the community are asked to witness, honor and celebrate the event, private?"
"The essence of the whole event is to publicize the act for everyone so that the the marriage will be respected by the community as something that should not be challenged."

Challenged by whom...male interlopers seeking to establish dominance?
Are we back to Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom??
I've seen the answer... and it's "yes".

It seems like a really insecure thing to do...it's very telling to hear your views...not as an insult...it just illustrates my point about males competing with each other over resources...and in many cultures, Women are still seen as territory to be defended and property to be guarded...servants and baby-makers...it's overtly un-evolved.

"Is the rule of law being skirted or are you rethinking things only in terms that support your argument for your Bubba?"

Whoa now...I haven't rethought anything other than my opinion that we can't communicate...I am so beyond apathetic about the Clinton marriage Vows and the meaning of "purjury"...if Monica Lewinski had ever claimed to have been harassed, abused or mistreated in any way, I would be LIVIDLY ONBOARD the impeachment-removal TRAIN...but the context was consensual...and it was never kenstarrs business...unless of course, starr is part of the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy to exfolliate the Clinton administration...at all costs.

I was trying to say that people who believe that they have certain "liberties", such as an inherent human right to privacy, will on occasion , choose discretion. I believe the President's actions are representative of the majority of Americans. He is fighting for the right to enjoy a private intimate life. There are others who will be exposed as having done the same...they just haven't had to go into absurd detail about their extra-marrital affairs...yet.

I believe Monica was part of a sting operation...Miami Vice style...

Kenstarr,Tripp, Lucianne, Drudge, etc. LOL!!

...only in America.
