Hi Patrick, one of the guys on local station had an interesting observation. Typically 5 trading days around new year day (3 days before, 2 days afterwards) has produced an average of 2.5% gain in SPX. However this year it hasn't done anything. He was also suggesting that typically if this rally doesn't turn out to be positive during the year it may indicate problem ahead for the market. Well this market keeps confounding all pundits who think that this is overvalued but I guess it doesn't matter. Heck if someone can come upgrade AOL (eventhough their valuations indicate 2001 target price has already been reached), AMZN (with next year expected rev at 1 bil) today anything can happen.
