I am wondering how the book-stores can make money.

Good question, Jeff. I think the simple answer is that they will never make a dime. Hell, there will probably be a dozen new book-selling sites every month with constant price undercutting to get higher up on the price comparison lists. Barnes and Noble is already going a penny less than Amazon on best-sellers like "A Man in Full". I don't think anyone is going to make diddly on mass-market items like books and music. Few barriers to entry and the competition will be ferocious.

I have a question about buying books on-line. Each book lists a rip-off amount for S&H. If you buy a bunch of books, do you pay that separate amount for each book ? If so, maybe that is where they will find their fat profits. Kinda like coffee being the highest-margin item on a restaurant menu.<g>
