That's still 60% more than AMD . Obviously the difference is that AMD from square one specifically designed a chip that would be cheaper to make . It never occured to Intel that they would have to do such a thing . The reason was that Intel was overconfident like many of its shareholders . AMD's plan was based on the $100 chip to provide the funds neccessary for break even revenue and then offer some higher end products to produce the real profitability .
