I was at a Christmas party in Miami and, of course, chatted a bit about the market with some of the "older" generation - guys with big money too. Well, they all agreed that 1999 had all the makings of a 1929 (which they all remembered to some degree) - all money in equities, no savings, wild speculation, one huge bubble ready to blow, and Y2K (which some even understood). They all planned on stocking up on gold bullion. It was quite illuminating. I think worldwide demand might very well increase - and as the price rises - demand will increase even more in this climate.

Now, I don't happen to agree with all the doom and gloom...BUT...the market runs a lot more on group mentality than fundamentals, and I agree that we are likely to see some kind of "millenium effect" - perhaps a temporary 25-50% adjustment starting in Sept running down thru Dec, with no light until everyone sees the world is still here after new years - at which point we'll have a bull rally like we've never seen before :-)
