I must say I think he is right. Once settlement is complete you become a shareholder of record, yes, but of record as of the day you bought the stock! If you buy today, you DO own TODAY.

t is common when reffering to EX-dividend dates to refer to "shareholders of record as of the ex-dividend date" And this commonly means just what Donald has been told, i.e. you only have to purchase and hold on that day to receive the dividend! Your broker disagrees withe his. Experience says you are wrong- unless you can come up with something more.

If I bought and sold 100 shares of QNET four times on Thursday, does that mean I get 1,200 shares instead of just 300?
