Do you know the story of Franco-Nevada and Euro-Nevada which are sister companies?.......I owned shares in them a few years ago when I bought them in the 4.00 range, sold them later at a very healthy profit. QTR reminds me somewhat of Franco-Nevada.Hopefully it will do as well. But all we can do is sit and wait and speculate until the company comes up with positive drill results. Until then good luck to all! I will be holding mine to the climax!

Hi Claude,

<<<..but I don't really mind a stock being taken over at a higher price than I pay..>>

:-))))) Me neither, except once in a while they try an end run like Barrick has tried with ARP. Not nicknamed the Barrackuda for nothing. I think that's a Bill Jacksonism.

You were saying that institutions are usually in on the P.P's. So true, and they can raise havoc with a stock if they decide to dump it for whatever reason, sometimes merely a change in management or a change in philosophy. Then when they dump them they have already written them off in their minds and sell it all the way down. Very destructive to a stock, because most speculators then think there must be something wrong with it. A great buying opportunity though. I'm a buyer of one of those right now. Tough to overcome unless they have a good story and then the ones who do their homework can profit before the masses start to move back in.

I have to agree with you about those who only buy the pennies. Especially when not long ago you had Placer Dome all the way down at $12.00 and Barrick was around $20.00. Euro-Nevada was around $16 or so if I recall and that was just a few months ago. Great buying opportunities and you would have had a double on Placer in no time when it ran up shortly after, and about 75% return on Barrick. Besides they're always the first ones out of the gate when the mood turns to gold.

<<...Guess that is why there are several great bargains on the TSE that are not attracting any volumes. The Minefinders, Cumberland and Metallica, despite similar market caps and great projects with resources or reserves already indicated, aren't attracting the $$ they deserve, even if they are also exploring...>>>

Also agree with some of the really good pennies that are languishing in the doldrums waiting for a better POG . Still it's a great buying opportunity for those who are willing to sit on them and wait for the good times to roll again. I always said that the VSE players recognized a REAL find before the Eastern boys figured it out. I recall Der Hoi Yin slamming Hemlo and bitching because Frank Lang and Richard Huges had sold a few shares, and I mean a few, compared to some of the dumping that's done today by the insiders through offshore accounts and so on. Hey, they didn't even grant themselves more options, if you can believe it. I have to say though that Hughes and Lang both have changed all that, according to what I hear. Although it's only hearsay. I also look at the way the Easten brokers, analyst's, brokerage houses, et al, handled the BRE-X debacle. Doesn't exactly inspire confidence in their opinions nor there ability to spot a good thing when they see it when it comes to the pennies. The only problem you have with the VSE is the VSE, and some of the houses here who think the market is their own private plaything. Although it goes on to some degree in all the markets, even the mighty DOW.

<<.. On a short term basis...(hours and days)...the smaller the stock price is...the easier it can be moved I guess...>>

Yes I agree, the trick on these is to know whether it's just a "play" or is there something genuine. They can be exciting, but they are also very dangerous. Usually the trick is to not be greedy, and not wait too long to grab a profit. Better to have half a loaf than none. You can get burnt pretty bad too. Just ask me.:-)0

<<..Yep ..remember these days..I wasn't in...unfortuntely. Remember also Stikine Resources (and another partner) when they got that hole on Prime's Eskay..Creek... a very similar story...low shares out..huge discovery..price explosion...>>

Yeah, Murray ended up getting suspended for a year on that play for failing to disclose for three weeks the glory hole of 300 feet of .80 oz/ton Au I believe it was. He tried to claim that he didn't think it was material information. Of course in that intervening 3 weeks they stoked up on every share they could. Well they had to do something because the public was screaming over that one. They had let him get away with a lot of egregious behaviour in the past, but that was just too far over the line. I think that Murray thought he could get away with anything. He fought it tooth and nail but they suspended him anyway. Course the money was made, so it wasn't too hard to take.:-))Although, I think with Murray, it was like cutting his head off because he lived for the stock market game.

Have to run, Claude, I'm getting signals from my husband that I've been on the computer for hours and we have things to do. Talk to you later.

We've got to stop agreeing with each other this way.:-)))))

Cheers

Shirley
