2 1/2 - 3 % day in the market:
Was real busy today with other stuff, just traded a few things, more out of inertia than anything else. buy and hold portfolios went up 2 1/2 to 3%, mutual funds were up 2-3%. I looked at the stocks that i own (I am fully invested, just a touch in margin) and didn't see anything i wanted to sell. ATHM went up 19, INKT went up 19, YHOO went up 30 or so. MSFT up 4. Airlines up point or two, phones up nice. NXTL looking ready to blow. OXHP nice move, should make big move soon. Jumped on PSFT at 20 5/16 (sold it last week at 19 1/4), sold some at 22 1/8. (thank you ron). I listen to the chatter on Mirc about the crazies, and the wanting to short and sometimes i shake my head in amazement.
We are in the midst of an explosive rally. fueled by low interest rates, (which 1. is good for business and 2. doesn't give attractive alternatives to stocks),lots of money going into funds and the market ( 401-Ks, IRAs, ROTH IRAs,) several generations now that believe in the market as the place to put money, energy is cheap, and January is traditionally a very strong time for stocks. So why jump around. If i just owned INTC, MSFT, CSCO, AOL, GE, IBM, YHOO, AOL, LU, and a few other select stocks, i could walk away from the computer, get a life, go for walks, write, read, enjoy nature, work out, play games and make LOTS OF MONEY !!!!!
