I think that fibre is the BRITISH way of spelling 'fiber', just like 'theatre' instead of 'theater'...

It ends up being used that way all over Europe when they are spelling in English (the KING's English)... I am in the paper pulp business, so we end up talking 'fibres'/'fibers' a lot.

-- After hitting a new historic high of $95-1/2 in early morning trading Wednesday, the stock fell throughout the day to trade at $89-7/16, down $1-11/16 from Tuesday's close in composite New York Stock Exchange trading.

NEW YORK, Jan 6 (Reuters) - SoundView Technology Group analyst Gary Helmig said on Wednesday he boosted his 6-month price target for data storage equipment maker EMC Corp. to $105 from $95 after the stock surpassed his earlier target.

-- The stock has more than doubled in price since October 8 when it traded below $44.

Pigboy, good to see you here.

Re: "I believe 'Fibre' is simply the French way of saying 'Fiber'."

British. Doesn't matter. What I said was right (about why fibre spelling), per Fibre Channel Association definition. Let's not quibble over spelling. What about EMC? I know they are the technology leader in RAID storage, etc. Still a good buy?

Thanks for the tips on the small up and coming FC companies. I'm familiar with Gadzoox and Vixel, have used their boxes. They work.

Tony

....How does the evolution in new networks go?...thats right, adapter cards, hubs, then switches... ;-))

Cool post, Pigboy.

About McData. So it does ESCON (mainframe optical interconnect tech) and FC switches. How big a part of EMC's business will this be in the future? I recall IBM and EMC had to do this weird Chinese wall kind of thing before EMC could buy McData because IBM is one of its biggest customers.

Thanks,

Gus

P.S. Gadzoox has nearly 100% of the FC hub market???? Wow and killer IPO if true. Seagate and Compaq own pieces of Gadzoox, I think.
