Response to a PM. It might help some one else.

unless you're trading listed stocks, right? :)

i trade listed stocks VERY rarely

very very rarely

i flipped SGI yesterday and contemplated CPU a few times today

do you trade using the order entry screen from the mm window? i do. i haven't used the other oes with the selectnet and soes buttons.

i have never used the MM window to trade. Maybe you should break that habit and start using the other OES. Since i have multiple live orders out on a stock some times, i like the big OES for keeping track of everything.

do you use audio alerts?
I have used the alarms in the past and perhaps i may in the future, but i do not now.

Two reasons i may use alarms in the future. my account gets so big that i must be in several positions at once to keep all my buying power busy <<< i doubt this will happen too soon because i intend to just trade more expensive stocks and/or more shares per trade. So I would have to get reallly big before more than two or three positions are needed.

second reason i may use alarms some day

if the market really changes, ie volatility dries up , such as the aftermath of a huge correction, i would need to pick trades much more carefully i would be tempted to set alarms on many stocks at break out prices for either a long or short entry. I do not see the market volatility drying up in the near future. From what i have read and heard there are stretches of time where everything is sideways and difficult to trade. I have not been at this game long enough to know it first hand.

do you subscribe to a wire or news service?

no news no cnbc only the two chatrooms and some times i like to shut them down too

price and volume rule, newz confoozez me

how often do you get disconnected from the quote server?

some days not at all, some days once or twice. there have been cruddy days - ie. getting bumped five or six times, not too many of those days at all, since i went to ISDN and an alternet ISP I have had a very solid internet connection.
