JOE: DC IS COOL....

>>I am not sure how much value the Direct Connect provides to people who are not in the market niches that Nextel dominates. I am not sure if it can ever become "cool". It's way too blue collar to ever become cool.>>

Joe:

This comment reveals your total lack of understanding of DC.

The same reasons that make DC attractive to blue collars workers and groups are the same that will make it "cool" for other crowds.

Have you seen the i1000 phone. NYC Radio "cool-cat-jock" Howard Stern has gone on his show nationwide to talk about DC and Nextel. Is that "cool" enough for you.

DC is that "prime differentiator" that locks the client into Nextel's network. It's the network, stupid. It's viral, sells itself and attracts curiosity everywhere you go. The i1000 with DC, emial, voicemail, zero LD charges from 30 miles south of Indy to close to St. Louis to Chicago, Milwaukee all the way to north of Madison WI now that's cool. DC being FREE is even cooler.

Sure the competition is responding with flat rates, larger local areas, etc. but the bottom line differentiator is still DC - which is perfectly suited for low Mhz, how energy, long wave/pulse lenght/duration DC. DC is the junkyard dog that's driving every PCS provider nuts.

For my money and energy, I'd much prefer a gorilla national footprint and the DC junkyard dog to occupy my wireless backyard.

Nextel may be bad and ugly, but the i1000 and DC ARE cool.....

"It's way too blue collar to ever become cool."

Jozef, you obviously know more about CDMA than you do about iDEN's Direct Connect. If you used NXTL's service you would have a different view. DC is addictive. My wife and I use it every day and I work out of my home. When the price drops to commodity levels you'll see more people like me using it. I suggest that you look around for people with Nextel phones. Stop them, ask how they like it and what they think of DC. You'll get an earful. Then you'll understand.

Folks with opinions like yours are the reason that NXTL has lagged behind in valuation. As those opinions change the stock will soar. It takes more than blue collars to add 2.8 million digital users in 2 years. And a $70 arpu ain't hay either.

Arnie

Joe nextel is alot more than a gimmick alot of people in management positions aren't sitting at there desk they are on the move and they want to be able to communicate at a push of a button it is very addicting and once people use it ,You won't want that simple little cell phone except maybe for the wife who makes that 1 or 2 phone calls a day. I am in the construction industry so I guess I qualify as blue collar.I do have 65 people that work for me who make 60,000 plus 5000 a year bonus plus vehicle including gas all qualify as blue collar I guess in your book.Guess what everyone of the individuals that work fo me have worked every day for the last 20 years I consider them management. Now there is a manager above every 5 men that I am talking about now under the superintendents there are foreman for the individual companies who all have nextel now they are considered manager for there company.I haven't even got to the guy who is swinging the hammer yet who doesn't have a radio yet.Now people in sales will catch on Your right the normal person sitting at there desk is not going to probably have nextel radio just the people that want to succeed in bussiness that depends on communication that quick.want to Kick ass attitude. LOL BEAR

Jozef,

What? Direct Connect is too blue collar to become
cool? Yeah, white collar people would never want to
have 300-500 mile coverage for less than 10
cents per minute. How humiliating to pay 10 cents
for out-of-state calls!
