This might be old news to you, but I wasn't sure of this, til' today.

The New VPC, which supposedly will be under $4K, comes with no monitor, not adequate RAM and virtually bare to the bone.

Thus, the demo version, that the nation saw during Gates presentation during Comdex, will cost something around $6-7K (one proc) depending on the configuration. Just $2.5K for that particular monitor.

Whether SGI can compete in the NT market with such pricing, I don't know. I am however certain that few Visual savvy engineers/users will buy into this, but I would be very surprised if that would create enough volume, to get SGI back on its feet.

I am interested to hear from you: "non-engineers" and "non-SGI-employees", if you are willing/able to pay $6-7K for your PC?

Mathon-

Well we had a pause today. Don't know if it will continue tomorrow or not considering Monday is supposed to be the start of the brave new future of SGI. I would look for some sort of correction by the end of next week tho, maybe just a pause-not too big of a sell off. But what the heck does this old man know. I agree with you on your assessment of SGI, both in the resistance levels and the need of positive earnings to get much of a move.
Things are getting back to normal slowly here. The insurance adjuster was by and I am well pleased with that settlement. My heat pump is acting up and have not been able to get it checked yet, and the cleanup of the broken limbs off of the trees will take me until spring unless I hire someone to do it. Wish I had Ringo here to help. Tell Ringo to be careful with those calls and also to keep that branding iron white hot. ";0)
