>>>My question then is what is there to prevent Amex from linking to my ATT on line site and all other bills in a fashion which would permit me to view all charges at the Amex site; link to the other bills and then call authorizing a payment.

1. Most billers (online bills) will encourage payment via Checking account. A bill payment by credit card requires the biller to pay a high credit card fee. For Example, when I signed up to receive my AT&T Universal Credit card online the only option I saw was payment via Bank Checking Account (provided by CheckFree). I couldn't find any option to pay by Credit Card, which is kind of silly anyway to pay one credit card with another, IMO.

2. Amex could link up with billers so consumers can view and pay their bills, but this would require Amex to set up a relationship with every major biller in the U.S., a very expensive and long process, or they could outsource to CheckFree. AMEX doesn't have the technology or infrastructure for Bill Payment, Payment tracking, error handling, etc.,etc.,etc. Transpoint has been trying to build this functionality for almost 2 years, and is still in just a pilot phase.

My question then is what is there to prevent Amex from linking to my ATT on line site and all other bills in a fashion which would permit me to view all charges at the Amex site; link to the other bills and then call authorizing a payment. No fuss, no muss, no charge and any bank is in the loop. Does this seem like a direction that EBPP is taking or am I missing something.

Kinda like being able to go through your Amex Bill...and then all the Charges on the Amex Bill provide a Hyperlink to the Biller of the service? So you could 'drill down' through one bill into another? Like a Website? Why not? Sounds good to me...but 5 or so years out maybe.

For now, I receive my ATT bill on line. I receive my Amex bill on line albeit paper arrives as well and I can authorize payment with a free call. All that is missing is the link from Amex back to my ATT bill ( and by extension all others). Seems like a system whose time is coming. Sure you don't have a talking 2x4? Is CKFR part of such an equation? Right up their alley? Or will things get simpler than what I describe? Yup!
