Bob -- ROSS is dead. Plain and simple. They have been dying a slow death for the past 8 years. You can have them.

As for companies shooting for specific verticals, that is fine. No individual segment is large enough to support one of these players over the long haul. If you look at what ORCL is doing in retail or pharmaceuticals or telecom you will quickly realize that they can go after these markets with ease.

As for being tied to their database, well it is the most widely installed, largest market share RDBMS out there, excepting possibly MSFT Access which is hardly worthy of porting and enterprise ERP suite to ;). If you have to be tied to something, gee maybe ORCL is it. If you have to buy an app suite it is MUCH easier to deal with a single vendor. The pluses outweigh the negatives.

Oracle's Q3/Q4 is shaping up to be HUGE so we'll see how JDEC's numbers compare.

Cheers!

P.S. SQNT never did move much over $12. Too bad. SUNW is killing them.
