As a shareholder, I thought there would be no better way to find out the company than using their product. So I downloaded Net2phone, tried to talk with an 800 operator (a real person) to see how good it was. Well, I'm disappointed. You have to hold the "talk" button when you want to talk, you and the other end can't talk at the same time (like a walkie-talkie). With their advertised 5cents/min. rate, the quality is way inferior to regular phone. The big 3 (ATT, MCI, Sprint) all have promotions regularly with 5 cents/min. With this experience, I don't think the netphone biz will take off. Also, FCC can push for more deregulation, and then the long distance call will be really cheap. That can pose a real threat to netphone.
