Nihilist: I have read all those and more. You are the one who needs to separate book learning from reality. I have travelled extensively and studied many of the modern and ancient cultures at great length. This statement of yours says it all: It is an unfortunate fact, that our scientific, greedy, self-centered society of today is full of miserable and sick people. We have a lot to learn about loving each other before we head for the stars. This statement shows you at your heart, a mystic, anti-greed, selfless blob that does not understand the fountainhead of the human spirit or the quest to go beyond the mundane of any "modern" society. You have been influenced by Marx and "political correctness" at the expense of a carefully thought out life-giving philosophy. You seem the type that condemns the best in Men as evil. Our race will head for the stars whether you are ready or not. Loving is important, but we may also run into other intelligences that are not so loving -- especially of humans.
