US West is being roasted on the editorial pages of the Seattle Times and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer for "reneging on a promise to refund $50 to 17,000 customers who received poor service during a strike last August," while, at the same time proposing "to reward themselves with pay increases as high as 69 percent." The chairman of the Oregon Public Utility Commission "characterized the pay raises as absird, abhorrent and insulting to ratepayers". Ken
