Thanks for this post Richard. It is something that had not crossed my mind. Is this your original thought or have you seen this expressed elsewhere? I follow Zinc quite closely. The LME stockpiles have dropped from 492,000 tonnes to 316,000 tonnes in the past year with Asia in recession and computers driving just in time inventories. Any whiff of a turn in Asia plus continued strength in North America would really boost price of Zinc and the Zinc mining stocks. Throw in building of extra inventories by users for potential Y2K problems would be like adding gasoline to a fire.
