CBS will ultimately buy MKWT from DBCC CBS could not give a ~hit about DBCC. DBCC is a boring low margin commodity player (that Bloomburg/SPComstock/Reuter's would have gobbled up years ago, if they actually worried that DBCC was a worthy competitor) who's stock would have stayed yet another Decade in obscurity if not for the MarketWatch IPO during the current Internet Stock Euphoria. So Yahooligan's are adding to the DBCC hype by suggesting that CBS actually needs DBCC, and will buy them out. May I suggest a more realistic scenario. CBS is working out a deal to be AOL's business news provider, and one of it's showcase assets is MarketWatch. Unfortunautly, CBS is stuck with DBCC as a partner who will only annoying issue to deal with in it's AOL arrangements. So CBS approaches DBCC to buy out MarketWatch, but the two parties can't assign a fair value to this venture. So they decide to take the site public in an IPO, and let the market's decide how much it's worth. The DBCC insiders are thrilled since they can finally dump DBCC shares that have done nothing for them for nearly a Decade. AOL only announces it's CBS deal once MarketWatch IPO is imminent so they can help be one step closer to dumping DBCC, and CBS is thrilled they'll soon have a number they can use to buy DBCC's dead weight out. When the IPO settles down, you can be sure CBS will simply buy most or all MarketWatch from DBCC using the prevailing trading price of MKWT stock. Of course CBS won't buy MKWT on the open market, as it's not in their best interest to price up the stock anymore than us online daytrading yutz's are doing already. Bottom line, don't be a fooled for one minute to "invest" in DBCC, cause it will still be the same boring commodity company, only with a few hundred million it won't know what to do with. So play it up and down thru this IPO period, and keep your eyes on what CBS and AOL do together. ABC's floundering with SEEK, and NBC's close to giving up on MSNBC, so CBS is not about to make any similar mistakes. The sooner it shakes the DBCC crap off it's boots and rides off into the sunset with AOL, the better. This mindless dibble was for entertainment purposes only, as usual, rebuttle welcome.
