Richard, You are not seeing my point. My point is to use a PROXY for the fundamental side. It may not then be necessary to actually fiddle with deciding what fundamental 'trees' to focus on, just make sure of the 'forest.'

So I was thinking that if a stock is presently trading in its upper range for the year, then its fundamentals probably are okay -- otherwise the market wouldn't have 'promoted' it up to that level.

If a stock is trading, say, at the 10% level of its yearly range, on the other hand, the market has 'demoted' it down to those levels based on its fundamental circumstances and prospects.

Once again, what do you think? (You're up pretty late tonight.)
