Thanks, Richard. Let me follow up with one more question on fundamentals, then. What one or two fundamental numbers would you suggest checking on stocks, just to serve as a filter to get out the junky ones?

Thanks,
Nicholas

Hi all, a question regarding builtin formulas in Metastock 6.5. Is there a way to see how a builtin formula is implemented in Metastock? I would like to modify the candlestick formulas to be a little more "relaxed" in their interpretation of doji etc, but couldn't figure out a way to edit them. And I can't even tell how they decide something is a "long white candle" so I can't really add my own candlestick patterns with full confidence if I want to interwork with theirs. I am new to Metastock (not even a week of using it) so maybe I missed something in the manual.

Also, when using the "candlestick expert" -- there seems to be an order in which the formulas fire because a "bearish engulfing pattern" in candlesticks was being identified as a "dark cloud cover" until I moved the "dark cloud cover" lower than "bearish engulfing pattern" in the highlight list. Since a "dark cloud cover" is the start of a "bearish engulfing pattern" (that is, if the black candle just keeps going past the halfway point of the previous white candle until it goes past the open of the previous white candle), they both seem to fire. Is this how it is supposed to work? What this means is that highlight list order is important -- at least that is what I am seeing. Again, I might have missed something in the manual, I will continue to play with it.

Awesome program. There is so much in Metastock. Now all I want is an easy way to convert from TC2000 data to Metastock without going through the V4 -> V3 -> Metastock route (I want all symbols, so this seems to be the only way unless I first cut my watchlist down to less than 2000 stocks).

Thanks,
