If that 10K is entirely short term risk capital, I must say that Voltaire's strategy is reasonable with one caveat. Essentially his is a bet that AMZN will swing heavily is one direction or other. Now that perhaps is the only bet that makes some sense about AMZN. However, AMZN options already incorporate such a hefty volatility premium that the final gain may not be that substantial unless the swing is spectacular.

Which may very well be the case. Has been in the past, but as you probably already appreciate: the trouble of our generation - to paraphrase Paul Valery - is that the future is no longer what it used to be in the past.
