Jim,

Re: Katmai business apps.

Outside of the Gaming market I see no volume use for the 3d Now and Katmai instructions.

I haven't seen or heard of ANY general business application that can be usefully enhanced by 3dNow or Katmai.

In the corporate market the win 98/ win 99 and NT numbers will be key and k-3 seems to excel at these whereas the K6/k6-2 has been inferior to the PII's.

I think the IT managers are much more sensitive to applications performance than hype and that's why the k-3 has a chance.

The dumb consumers on the other hand will buy into Katmai and 3d Now. So I think that Intel will do well with Katmai in the home/gaming markets. However this could really hurt the Celery.

I can see the consumers being totally confused and will probably buy either the AMD as it at least has Katmai-like 3d now or get out his check book and buy the real Katmai parts based on FUD. In fact I expect Intel to have to come out with Celeron's with Katmai support in mid-late 99.

Regards,

Kash
