Actually I think the talk here is MUCH more interesting than what you get anywhere in the real world- so I think the information age has been a real boon to all us pretenders to philosophy. I went to the Unitarian Church today for the first time and was very disappointed in the level of the discussion. I thought this morning, as I sat there bored and uncomfortable,- I might just as well have had a discussion with someone on Feelies about religion. Some people here engage in mindless babble, but most don't. I don't know how much of this thread you have actually read, but you couldn't call LAther, Steve, Penni, or Nihil's comments mindless.

Perhaps if you had gone to an Ivy League University instead of The Evergreen State College you might discern what we are discussing. Then again, perhaps not. Many of the profs at those "higher centers of learning" are just a few steps away from an ivory tower straight-jacket. LOL
