To the best of my knowledge, and I have tried to research this as best I could, Terayon's S CDMA is separate and distinct from the Q's flavor of CDMA and does not require any Q license. Terayon for several years was a hot private start up company which caught the eye of Cisco. Cisco made a small investment early on. Terayon has not been public long. Its technology is used for wire transmission only and for cable specifically. Broadcom and Terayon are to share in the new technologies in development for the next generation of data modems which will concentrate on rapid data transmission. The advantage of S CDMA is somewhat similar to the Q's CDMA for wireless in that both use spread spectrum to minimize noise and interference. As a result Terayon's S CDMA is being used now primarily where the cable systems are old and not upgraded. Both Broadcom and Terayon are worth a look if you have a high risk tolerance as both are on the cutting edge of emerging technologies. Others here who have much better tech smarts can explain better than I. Chaz
