The only 2D/3D solution that i've heard about coming from Intel is the Whitney chipset. Whitney is supposed to be a new chipset that integrates 2D/3D graphics into a low cost solution for the sub $700 section of the market. I don't think the 3D will be in anyway killer. It would be too expensive (in silicon and R&D) to implement anything "killer" into a low cost chipset. I don't know about release time for this chipset though. This topic was discussed earlier in:

The rumor was probably about the new instructions (a.k.a SSE, previously known as KNI) on the Katmai (a.k.a. Pentium III) chip. They're supposed to massively speed up graphics transformations and such, thus making it possible to pump more triangles to the system 3D graphics card. Which will ultimately boost 2D/3D performance.
