LOL- Unitarians a cult? I think not. And I must exclude you from my rational thinkers list. I embrace you as a human being, of course, and would attend your church if you asked me- but I cannot say that your posts have been enlightening in any way. Sorry.

At the Unitarian Church I met 2 atheists and several agnostics like myself- we don't work and play well enough with others to be a cult- it's hard to get two agnostics together who can agree on anything because we are freethinkers- and when you throw Atheists into the mix...well...you can forget a meeting of the minds.

I have visited every Church in my area (many of them literalist Churches). I went because when people invite me to their church I try to go and give it a try. I like the people I went with but it is sad to know that they would not like me if I were honest with them. I feel the same way about my Southern Baptist Aunts (BTW- if you are not a SOUTHERN BAPTIST- they wouldn't consider you a Christian either). I know what they are. I know what they believe. And I love them anyway. But I know they would not love me if they knew what I really believe. How do I know this? Because one of them has a daughter who "fell away" from the church- and SHE was basically disowned. So who is the REAL follower of Christ? ME- who sees the good in everyone regardless of religious belief, or THEM - when they believe that the only good people are people saved in Christ?(And it has to be THEIR Christ- no run of the mill Christ will do- he MUST be a Southern Baptist- so if he shows up for the Rapture and he ISN'T a Southern Baptist they won't go). I can accept that they need their rock, but they could never accept that I do NOT need it- or that I cannot believe in it. There is the problem in a nutshell. Religion has made a gulf between those who believe they know better for EVERYBODY else, and those who do not.
