[However, now] there's a lot of irresponsibility. And so a lot of people say there's too much freedom. When personal freedom's being abused, you have to move to limit it.

So when the LA riots occurred, authorities exceeded their constitutional authority to impose curfews??

Rights are preserved for all when all respect the rights of others. People may have the right to free movement, speech, and association. But they also have the right to be free of fear from crime and reckless violence by mobs.

Let's not blow these statements out of proportion. We all have rational minds (I hope) and fully realize there are times when the preservation of order takes precedence over the unbridled rights of people to press the envelope in excersizing their rights.

Funny thing is that most people who gripe about their rights have forgotten how much blood was shed to establish and preserve them in the first place. And the folks who did the bleeding were American citizen soldiers who answered the call to defend our way of life from those who seek to destroy it, both domestically and from abroad.

I would like to know if you and some of the others positing this fear-mongering about martial law and the military, have ever served in the military. If so, what branch?

Regards,

Ron
