Steve -- Shorting is risky, but data from Dec. 8 -- would you make any decision based on that? By the way, the time to cover ratio as of Dec 8 was at a 12 month low, indicating a dramatic fall in shorting. What do you think happened last week? More shorting or less?

Where are you getting the 34mm short interest figure from?
This Yahoo page seems to say that 20mm short(which is split adjusted):

biz.yahoo.com

While ViWes lists 6.9mm short(not split adjusted):

viwes.com
