Gee, I always liked to think of myself as somewhat unbiased with regards to Microsoft. I've never been one to say that Windows is a great product, just that it isn't as bad as people say and that Microsoft has a lot of legacy and compatibility issues to deal with that hurt it technically.

Anyway, my problem with the computer has been pretty isolated and I'm convinced it's specific to this hardware (considering that I've never had problems like these ever before, which includes an identically-configured system). I also hate the way that I need to install drivers from peripheral vendors instead of letting Windows handle it, but that's not exactly Microsoft's fault.
