OrionX: Thanks for the response. It makes sense, otherwise why buy an Ultra2 SCSI hard drive if all you need is a fast card. Mine was a knee-jerk reaction, but I didn't think it was correct. Still, the card seems quite an advancement. Adaptec apparently is trying to revitalize the SCSI market for the desktop user (but not the moms and pops) and this card, plus the lower price, is a step in that direction. In window shopping this weekend at a local computer store, I noticed the Adaptec AHA-2940 Ultra (UW) -- 40 MB/S -- was still selling for about $349. That price will have to drop to make way for the new Ultra2 2930 at a MSRP of $315.
