Scumbria - Re: " No, my hope for K7 is based on the fact that it was intentionally architected for high clock rates. "

Since AMD is playing a catch-up game, the K7 might catch Pentium III speeds - at which time the 0.18 micron Pentium III/Coppermine makes its debut.

And don't forget - have you ever seen a K7 motherboard?

Neither have 99.9999% people of the computing community.

Scumbria - Re: "AMD's manufacturing has suffered from the whims of learning-challenged architects who failed to grasp that clock speed is the only thing that matters in their marketplace. "

Are you back-handedly saying that Intel's architects and designers WERE smart enough to design for HIGH CLOCK SPEEDS ?

If so, you can add CPU ARCHITECTURE to your Intel "approved list" along with marketing and manufacturing.
