<<I think the abuse of firearms is a national, cultural embarrassment.>>

I have never abused a firearm -- or a fetus.

Here's one for you Lorrie. The Iditarod is a race run every year, and only a few people on earth have what it takes to even make the start. It's over 1000 miles long, is run in the worst weather imaginable, and takes two weeks. The other 50 weeks of the year you have to feed 100 to 200 dogs and exercise them enough to select the dozen or so that can make the race with you. The Iditarod has been won a number of times by women, so sex is not the focus of my question. Some people think it is cruel and unusual punishment for the dogs and do everything they can to put the race out of business. My question is: Does this too "reflects our society's basic disrespect for life/nature?" If so, who holds the disrespect, the mushers or the animal rightists? I have my opinion. What's yours?
