PeopleSoft Opens Technical Training To Independent Consultants
PLEASANTON, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 12, 1999--In order to address today's IT skills shortage and to ensure more of its customers support for their PeopleSoft applications, PeopleSoft today announced that it has opened its PeopleSoft Pro Training Program to independent consultants, which includes small firms as well as individuals.
Expanding beyond its traditional audience of PeopleSoft customers and implementation partners, the program will train individuals in the fundamentals of key PeopleSoft technologies.
"By opening PeopleSoft Pro to independent consultants, we can increase the number of PeopleSoft-trained personnel by 10 percent," said Joe Didonato, vice president of educational services at PeopleSoft. "This increased knowledge base will enable our customers to get the most out of their PeopleSoft applications, shortening time to benefit and, in the long run, lowering their total cost of ownership."
"Many companies are at a crisis point in terms of finding qualified IT personnel to assist in enterprise software support," said Joshua Greenbaum of Enterprise Application Consulting in Berkeley, Calif. "By opening up training to independent consultants, PeopleSoft certainly can help customers who need additional expertise to support their applications."
The new training program offers courses designed to provide students with a foundation in PeopleSoft technologies, such as PeopleTools, PeopleCode, Process Scheduler and SQL/SQR. By completing a specific curriculum, or "path," students receive a PeopleSoft Technical Pro designation, which qualifies them to perform such services as applications modification, customization and maintenance. The PeopleSoft Technical Pro path requires 18 days of training and costs $9,000.
Courses are designed to support PeopleSoft 7.5, the company's current software release, and are taught exclusively by PeopleSoft instructors at the company's 100 classrooms located throughout the United States. Applicants must demonstrate sufficient technical knowledge to qualify for enrollment.
