Hello all,

I have ANOTHER question/partial prayer request for all. I've recently come to the conclusion that I haven't been trying to discern God's plan/will for my life very much when I pray for various life decisions that I make. I generally have prayed - sometimes a lot, sometimes only a bit - and then went with the decision that seemed to make the most sense in allowing me to use the gifts that God has given me for His glory. I believe that I've basically been analyzing situations too much and thinking too much, as opposed to trying to understand where God was leading me.

In that vein, I have a decision coming up in the next couple of months as to where I will move (I rent an apartment and definitely will move somewhere else because my roommate is changing jobs and moving far away) and what church I will call my home (I've narrowed it down to 2).

I believe that logically I've figured out what area makes the most sense to live in, and what church I like the best. I've been praying for these things for a while, especially what church to attend.

My question to all the seasoned Jesus-lovers on this thread is, in what ways can I know where God is leading me in these couple of areas. I believe I know a few of them already, and have followed His lead a couple of times, but I still feel like a beginner in this area and really feel like following God's lead is a BIG part of my relationship with Him.

Anyways, I'd appreciate anyone's opinions/experiences/knowledge on this area of discerning God's will and "listening" to Him for decision making.

God's love to all,

grant

Dear, dear Gregor. I can't quite put what I was thinking about prayer in words. I belive that yes, many times, each of us has a powerful annointing upon us to persuade the Lord. And I use that freedom in Christ perhaps too much.

BUT. Boast not lest ye fall, I guess is what I am forever reminded of. Therefore, I never, never assume that I have anything to do with any prayer being answered except that I in fact spoke it in obedience to the healing power of Jesus Christ.

That's why I don't think I need to voice in words to every single prayer, since other people have already done that very well. That's all I meant. Also, that sometimes you can get burned out on prayer and need to step back and analyze once again how incredibly powerful it is and how mysterious it is and that again, it is Jesus Christ who has allowed us to reach the source of healing, God in Heaven. But I do believe the healing was GIVEN to Jesus as a gift by God that Jesus would be greatly blessed by it.

I try not to spend too much time thinking about it, and rather just watching it happen, as it of course can't be explained beyond Faith comes by Hearing, Hearing from the Word of God. In the beginning was the Word. And He became flesh and dwelled amongst us, and I'm still trying to get that straight.

Should we be here everyday praying, each of us? Probably yes. But again, if we are not, no one should feel condemned, because any one person who IS here is capable of voicing that prayer to the Heavenly Father quite well, and completely, I believe. The more that do is of course always better. But one can put a thousand to flight by themselves, and we should remember that I think.
