Dear Grant:

I don't want to confuse you too much so I'll keep it brief. If it makes sense; by being in the state of flux or change and by realizing the inadequacy of 'self' you are by definition closer to God rather than farther away. The worse off, more confused, more uprooted you are the closer God draws to you. Feel anger, sadness, turmoil, queasy stomach, sickness, sin, stomp your feet, all the above: God draws closer. You would think it is the exact opposite, right !! You would think why would God even want me in a condition like this. He does. And. Moreso.

Hosea 14:8 I am living and strong ! I look after you and care for you. I am like an evergreen tree, yielding fruit to you throughout the year. My mercies never fail.

I've heard some of the oldtimers say to lay out a 'fleece'. I am not very good at it. But I have tried it a few times and it worked I know a few times. I do know that confusion is not of God. If you are 'confused' do not proceed. Concerning the church. Ask the Lord to confirm in your next visit that an acquaintance will surprise you there that you did not know attended that church. Then ask the Lord to do the opposite at the other church; you won't be surprised about anything. You might try it. If BOTH circumstances occur there is your confirmation. Think up a similar plan on your apartment. But pray about it and have a little fun with it. It is always interesting where God will lead........In Christ.gregor

><>...Hi Grant, how have you been?...><>

In answer to you most thoughtful question.

Set your priorities out according to what is logical and most progressive. You will know what they are, as planned by God, when you realize the gifts that God has bestowed upon you,and attempt to apply them to your life in light of God's will
. These gifts, and talents, when they are applied to God's glory, will lead you in the direction that God has planned for you.

As to your choice of church that seems to me to be an easy one. We are to choose a church that teaches the word of God chapter by chapter and verse by verse. All churches should teach it's members how to understand, and prove for themselves, what God's word is really saying Church members should be well equipped (by the pastor) to find for himself the truth within the pages of God's most holy word! He should be able to think for himself, and his pastor ought to encourage it.

There are also some obvious things to look for in a congregation as well as some things to avoid. I trust, that as a Christian, you are well aware of them all. If not you will know them when you see them.

This is God's will for all HIis servants.

Have to go for now, hope this was helpful.

Good to hear from tou again.

Sincerely,
Shalom...><>

1Thes 5:14-28
14 Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men.
15 See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men.
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 Quench not the Spirit.
20 Despise not prophesyings.
21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24 Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25 Brethren, pray for us.
26 Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27 I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

The will of God Grant, will never lead you, where the grace of God cannot keep you.

Dear Grant:

I see that you have already gotten some very good responses to your questions and I agree with those responses. Let me try to add a little by giving you a couple of scriptures which may help:

John 14:23-27
23 Jesus replied, "If anyone loves me, he will obey my teaching. My Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
24 He who does not love me will not obey my teaching. These words you hear are not my own; they belong to the Father who sent me.
25 "All this I have spoken while still with you.
26 But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.
27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

I Jn 2:3-6
3 We know that we have come to know him if we obey his commands.
4 The man who says, "I know him," but does not do what he commands is a liar, and the truth is not in him.
5 But if anyone obeys his word, God's love is truly made complete in him. This is how we know we are in him:
6 Whoever claims to live in him must walk as Jesus did.

Sometimes in seeking God's will it is very good to communicate with other Christians (as you have done here). If there are some Christians close by you, you may want to try speaking to some you trust face-to-face and seek their counsel. Also, listen carefully to what other Christians say to you - especially those who do not know about the questions you have but who say things that have a direct bearing on your questions. Sometimes the Lord will tell you things through His people. And most especially, as the scriptures above suggest, ask the question WWJD (what would Jesus do) and always seek the guidance of the Holy Spirit through prayer.

In Christ, Tom
