William,

Thank for the words of advice. I guess today I was a little frustrated because my internet access has been wretched, and my broker access is down. So I have to call, and I'm put on hold for eternity. needless to say there were certain stocks I would have liked to have sold, but I couldn't. Luckily some others I had did OK so I am surviving.

I am a little leary on the whole day trading thing, but I feel that this is a very opportunistic time. And if I really decided to do this thing, I want to be able to make my decisions count. I can't stay on HOLD.

So I received an e-mail from Cybertrader and filled out the application. I've also spoke to them. They do seem very nice, and very busy. But you know this whole e-trade thing is in it's infancy. I read a very good article in Forbes magazine about the growth of 5 million on line investors. I just hope their systems are ready for the onslaught that will come.

In the meantime I'll watch my P's AND Q's, and I'll try to invest so I don't feel bad if the system goes down and my stock drops.

This whole thing has been very exciting.

Bill,

Misery loves company, as they say. It's been a hard new year for me, too. I've started having my doubts about daytrading as well so I'm taking a few days off to try to sort out why things are going wrong.

Luck and instinct. I don't think so. Luck never lasts, and instinct is just a subconscious recognition of a pattern. Given enough time, we'll all develop that. My opinion is successful daytrading is nothing more than the ability to control one's fear and greed (a little common sense wouldn't hurt, I guess). My fear has gotten too large lately. Now I bail if I lose even a sixteenth. My trades never even have a chance to get started (to rub salt into the wound, I have my charts and all their profits staring at me).

I don't know if I can offer anything that would help you get a handle on your trading issues but feel free to PM me if you'd like. You've been a really positive force here and I greatly appreciate all you have and continue to contribute.

Buck up. Tomorrow's another day (and I'm not setting my alarm!)

Regards,

Paul Kaz

William,

I received my CD's from Cyber trader today. I haven;t seen them yet because i am in the office, but I will check them out tonight. I am fortunate enough to be able to closely watch the market in my office, so i would like to try my hand at this, with of course first learning how NOT to lose.

And I made a couple of investments my first days out here, and the stocks went up nicely. Now normally, I would wait and see, but I sold them so I could feel what it is like to make a profit, and not question myself if the stock continues to rise. The big thing here was a sense of victory or accomplishment. Also a sense of confidence that my selling a profitable stock, you can now say I did it.

I have also put in some stops so that if a stock does fall, I'll be OK to take a loss. I'm sure you can't win on everyone, and I think the hardest thing for me to understand here is that it IS OK to lose sometimes. Don;t get emotionally attached to a stock, because it doesn't know me at all. If I keep my emotions out of it, I'm better off.
