Ron, I've read those MOBEX postings and came away believing they were scare hype.
Wisconsin is the only state I know that has addressed the
mobilization issue. They have legislation concerning Y2K emergency
mobilization of the NG.
TO ALL, take a look at ALYD!! Any comments or news?

Ron,

I have heard the same about MOBEX and have no idea whether something like that is in the plans. It may be a rumor but I did see on C-Span the last Senate Y2K Committee hearing and (this is where I cant remember for sure) there was some Adjunct General representing some NG (maybe on a national level) who did say something to the effect that the NG (dont know if nationally, but I presumed so) would be at least on standby for deployment to major metro areas throughout the country. (OR SOMETHING TO THAT EFFECT) There was no reason given for this to my recollection but could be for support of infrastructure and/or keeping the peace. I dont have time right now to go back and verify exact testimony but someone might be able to verify that testimony through either CSPAN or Senate Y2K Committee.

I can tell you this, I checked with local emergency management in FL and verified that they are not going to be allowed vacation from December - at least January, the personnel were told to enjoy Christmas with family this year because in all likelihood they would be at the local command operation center next year (12/99) and they did verify to me unofficially that the Florida NG will be deployed but no details where and for what purpose.
