It's much better than 56Kbps but people need to understand that as more people get on line DSL speeds over phone line will drop. That is the one main advantage of of the cable company systems. If you pay for 640K you get 640K all the time on your dedicated line. Through Bell Atlantic you may get 640K one time then 320K another time and something else on another occassion.

Still, all and all this is a great development and has set the Cable companies back on their heels - they are quietly sweating and loosing their ties and shirt collars as they feel a little short of breath.
