Press Release: Spieker Properties - Roof Rights Wednesday January 13, 1:54 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release SOURCE: Spieker Properties, Inc. Spieker Properties Announces Agreements With Telecommunication Service Providers MENLO PARK, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Spieker Properties, Inc., (''SPK'') (NYSE: SPK - news) today announced it has signed non-exclusive agreements with three communication companies: Advanced Radio Telecom (Nasdaq: ARTT - news), Teligent (Nasdaq: TGNT - news), and Winstar Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq: WCII - news). The agreements will allow these companies access to SPK's portfolio of commercial properties on the West Coast, where they will be able to offer a wide range of fixed wireless telecommunication services to a tenant base of over 5,000 businesses. Communication services offered by these companies are optional to SPK tenants and are an alternative to the tenants' existing service. ''We are very excited that our tenants will now have a choice when deciding which provider to use for telecommunication services. Many of our tenants are small to mid-size companies. For the first time, they will be offered state-of-the-art communication power, service, and savings, which up to this point have been available to only larger companies,'' commented Dennis Singleton, Vice Chairman of Spieker Properties. Singleton added, ''We are committed to doing whatever we can to ensure that our tenants have options when selecting necessary business services. We believe this enhances the value and utility of our properties and differentiates us from other providers of commercial space in our markets.'' The signing of these agreements is consistent with Spieker Properties' efforts to explore ancillary sources of revenue made possible by its meaningful concentration of West Coast properties. Spieker Properties, Inc., a publicly traded real estate company, owns and operates over 40 million square feet of commercial real estate in California and the Pacific Northwest. The company's principal objective is sustainable long-term growth in earnings through the acquisition, development and management of high-quality office and industrial properties in selected western United States markets.
